NokiaE71x available via AT&T

The Nokia E71 is one great smartphone to own if you haven’t yet done so already, but just in case you’re thinking of upgrading to that model - hold your horses. Nokia has just made available the E71x, touted to be the slimmest smartphone on the market, via AT&T retail stores and online from this week onwards. This full QWERTY smartphone will retail for a mere $99.99, although that comes with a customary 2-year contract alongside a mail-in rebate. More on the Nokia E71x right after the jump as well as its capabilities and functions to cater for the road warrior in you. According to David Petts, Vice President and General Manager, AT&T Account, Nokia, “The trend for messaging, whether email, IM, texting or social networking, is stronger than ever - we are seeing a real shift in the way people prefer to communicate. The E71x is one of the most stylish and sophisticated QWERTY smartphones on the market, and it’s the ideal companion for people who enjoy easy messaging and connecting with their friends. We are thrilled to now bring this sleek smartphone to people across the United States with AT&T.” The Nokia E71x will make sure you remain connected no matter where you are courtesy of its high-speed 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi support for times when you want to save on battery life, an integrated music player that won’t be on par with an iPod but it does its job well enough, a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera that allows you to take memorable moments whenever you forget to bring out your camera, alongside a whole host of connectivity to various online portals meant for messaging and social networking. The built-in GPS navigation system also allows you to use AT&T Navigator to get around an unfamiliar territory with ease. The only problem could be the Symbian S60 operating system it runs on – those on the iPhone who wants to switch might find it to be less intuitive than the iPhone OS.

LG Silver Mobile

The new Viewty Smart GC900 is the latest high-end camera phone from LG and is the original Viewty's replacement, improving in every way over its predecessor by upping the camera spec and running a flashy new user interface, all wrapped up in a sleek and sexy new body. Along with Samsung, LG are rapidly becoming the mobile manufacturer to look at when you want a non-smartpho ne touchscreen handsetIt's the camera which will attract the majority of admiring glances when you take the Viewty Smart from your pocket. The 8 megapixel lens is from Schneider-Kreuznach, a company who have been partnering LG for sometime, resulting in beautiful shots, and snappers have the choice of an autofocus mode or, unusually, a manual focus option for complete control. The Viewty Smart features Intelligent Shot Mode, which analyses the environment when taking a picture and then selects one of seven settings to provide the ultimate picture, Multi Face Detection, video recording and several options for enhancing your picture, including LG's Beauty Shot – as seen previously on the Renoir. As impressive as the camera is, the S-Class 3D user interface comes a very close second! The touchscreen is the phone to currently make, but if you don't have a finger-friendly, dedicated UI, it's not going to be a winner. LG knew this and their new S-Class system – which debuted on the LG Arena – lives up to its promise of being truly usable with just your thumb. It's based around a rotating cube whose four sides provide access to four windows, containing all your options and widget control. Finger swipes move screens, rolodex-style galleries make browsing your pictures and media a joy and best of all, it's suitably speedy and accurate to the touch! The Viewty Smart's 800x400 resolution, displayed on a screen which supports multi-touch and accelerometer-controlled automatic orientation adjustment, is perfect for video. The previously mentioned rotating gallery lets you pick you video quickly and the DivX/XviD support makes sure you won't spend ages converting many files already in your collection. The Dolby sound enhancement makes them sound good too, but we are surprised LG have not included a 3.5mm jack plug socket. Motion based games, an FM radio, a TV-out and a music player round out the entertainment features.
Completing the specification of the Vewity Smart is a 3G radio with HSDPA, plus Wi-Fi, A2DP Bluetooth and GPS on the connectivity front, a handy 1.5GB of internal memory and a MicroSD card slot for cards up to 16GB on size, all inside an attractive brushed-metal look casing weighing a very reasonable 102 grams.Summary of the LG Viewty Smart.
